How to Delete Wrong AutoComplete Entries in Windows

Tech Advice:1

Have you ever filled in the wrong item for an email address?  I’m sure at one point or another we’ve all done this before and have wanted to get rid of it.
It’s not just happened with Mail but also sometimes on forms that it automatically puts in an entry without really wanting it to be there.
The good news for this is that it can be taken care of and gone.  If you’ve never had this happen, just keep reading because this will help you out in the end.
In order to begin, you have to use the down arrow key on the email directly.
The quick method would be just simply delete on your keyboard and it should be gone just like that.
While it will work 9 times out of 10, however there is a chance that it won’t work.  It may end up reappearing again and will have to go through the process.
It can be wiped out through the registry edit.  Pretty much making it seem like Registry Edit can do just about anything.

For the process to begin, just simply shut down Windows Mail.

You then must open up regedit through the start menu search box.  Look for the key below and if it’s not there, try creating it and see what happens.
 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses
Look on the right-hand side of the program.  Delete everything but the default.
You should be able to open up Windows Mail and it should be ok.
The problem should be taken care of even though it will completely wipe out all email addresses saved.

If it wasn’t done right, then they will continue to show up.
Just repeat the process as stated above and follow it clearly.
