How to Re-establish the sleep button disabled by windows Vista
Tech Advice:1
↣ Windows Vista has a lot of bugs and I would like to personally request Bill Gates to introduce a service pack in order to solve the Vista issues.
↣ You might be surprised that you can have your Sleep option Disabled after you perform an update in Windows Vista.
↣ Don’t worry, I have found a solution to this annoying problem.
Hacking Registry
↣ Hacking registry is a tricky part because even a single wrong entry can corrupt your operating system.
Follow the steps carefully, so that you don’t harm your operating system. Open the Run command window and type “regedit”.
↣ After the registry editor opens up, search for the following path:
↣ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU
↣ Add a new 32-bit DWORD value called NoAUAsDefaultShutdownOption and assign value as 1. Check again and you will definitely find your sleep button back.
↣ Registry Hack for basic users
You can download the registry hack, if you a basic user and you feel that you might hurt your registry accidentally. Unzip the file and open the following file:
↣ StopHijackingMySleepButton.reg
↣ Press yes you add the contents of the file to the registry. This registry hack is meant only for Windows Vista users.
