How to fix Microsoft Windows Xp Update Problem
Please do the following steps to fix the problem
Step 1
Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder.
↣ Click Start Menu >> Click on Run Button
↣ In the Open Box type %windir% & then click OK.
↣ Note The %windir% folder is the folder where you installed Microsoft Windows.
↣ Locate the SoftwareDistribution folder.
↣ Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder & then click Rename.
↣ Type OldSD & then press ENTER.
Step 2
Start the Automatic Updates service & the BITS service.
↣ Click Start Menu >> Click Run Button
↣ In the Open Box Type services.msc, & then click OK.
↣ In the list of services right-click Automatic Updates & then click Properties.
↣ In the Automatic Updates Properties dialog box
↣ Click the General tab, click Start & then click OK.
↣ In the list of services right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service & then click Properties.
↣ In the Background Intelligent Transfer Service Properties dialog box
↣ Click the General tab, click Start, & then click OK.
Step 3
↣ If no Good then Follow the steps on Below link on how to reset Updates
