As you all know Adobe Reader is a very heavy application that takes a lot of time to load the pdf file.
Besides, it consumes a lot of memory on an operating system like Windows Vista, a memory hungry operating system.
have a better replacement for Adobe reader.

Users will be able to open pdf files with the help of free and light weight Foxit PDF reader instead of using the heavy and resource eater – Adobe reader.
You can also index pdf files without using Adobe Reader.
Since, adobe also installs an IFilter that helps Windows index your documents, our goal is to do the same without using Adobe Reader.

Installation

In order to throw out Adobe Reader from our system, we will have to download and install IFilter.
In order for this to work properly, we will have to rebuild the index.
Open the Start Menu Search Box and type “Indexing”. This will load up the Indexing Options.
Select the Advanced Options button and then click Rebuild button.
Rebuild Option takes a lot of time so you better do this task before you go to sleep.

Once this is over, you will be able to run the pdf files without using adobe reader and you can also uninstall the same if you have already installed that on your system.
